In 2002 Sue Coe left New York City to relocate to rural upstate New York. This series of woodcuts shows the local flora and fauna of her country surroundings. Coe gets the wood for her woodblock prints from her neighbors in upstate New York. The simplicity of the materials, process and subject matter celebrates nature and reflects Coe's deep love of animals. Of this series, Sue has written: "‘Months’ were my first (crude) efforts at woodcut. Was looking at the work of a master - Shiko Munakata, and went within his vision of nature. He will always be a guide, even in the most blatant political work, he is there."
